Atmos works well for an integrated unit and I am happy with the experience. I’ve had the LG SN9YG sound bar for over a month now and there are a few things you should know before deciding to purchase one of these for yourself. I recently got a 65 inch Panasonic OLED for a home theatre room but the built in sound was very poor. I immediately started looking for a soundbar that supported Dolby Atmos with Earc which is a feature of HDMI 2. For music it still sounds very good but not as impressive as when it is fed an atmos track or even a 5. I also added the SPK8 rear speakers which are a must for a full surround sound experience and makes a huge difference. This system’s built-in FM tuner allows you to listen to free over-the-air radio programming. It easily connected but the sound was very flat and the subwoofer was very underpowered and weak. The eq presets are worthless and would have been much better if it just had bass and treble knobs.
In summation, I’m not as impressed with this sound bar as I wanted to be. The EQ presets and room calibration features were underwhelming and the fact that both the Bluetooth and the Wi-Fi have security issues is a problem. There is supposed to be a TOS Link cable included with the sound bar, but there wasn’t one in the box. The solution was simple though, as I contacted Best Buy about the missing cable, and they were pretty good with offering me a slight refund in return. I have yet to find a work around, but perhaps a more tech savvy person would know how to secure the sound bar’s wireless signal so that only you, the owner can connect to it.

The worst part, LG does not acknowledge it, and does not seem interested in doing anything about it. Owners with units just outside warranty are having to replace or repair subwoofers out of pocket. First, I am not qualified to post a technical review of all the aspects of audio. Works perfectly under my LG TV, but full disclosure, my TV is 86 inches, and uses 4 legs at either end to support itself. It really lacked depth and doesn’t give the experience i was expecting. I also have 2 issues with the bar, 1 is that when i change source on the TV it stops passing through the sound and requires a restart to kick it into life.
The movie mode setting is by far the best one in our opinion , AI mode and all the others don’t sound anywhere near as good. It was easy to set up and I know almost nothing about anything with a wire. I loved the sound quality and it got me more than other speaker system or tv I have had before has.
The problem is, there are obvious over attenuation issues with how this soundbar’s DSP handles vocal object placement on dialog not in the foreground of the movie. I understand speaker layout, weight and other design considerations affected how soundbars can be wallmounted but it would be nice if LG had a universal mount. I now have several screw holes I need to repair because the mounting bracket on the SK10Y does not align with the bracket on my previous SJ8. In particular, the bass from the subwoofer is very weak. I’m not asking for room shaking vibrations but it should at least beat out the smaller unit on my previous LG soundbar. Overall, if it works, its a decent sound bar with good quality, but for the price, there are far better options out there and I wish I’d splashed a little extra for the Sonos Arc, even without the sub.

Overall, if it is recommended for the medium-sized rooms to enjoy the crystal clear sound quality. Also audio playback intermittently cuts out for a few tenths of a second when watching any recorded content on the Sky Q box.
